Ever wanted to see the smallest monkey in the world? At the Tangkoko rainforest you have a chance to spot those cuties called Tarsiers. With a park ranger you will walk through the rainforest discovering about all the plants and animals that live in the Tangkoko National Park (Tangkoko Batuangus Nature Reserve).

OK, it is a bit of a drive (2 hours and 30 minutes), but this is a trip not to miss! Tangkoko National Park has so many beautiful wildlife species to see, you simply have to plan ahead. If you go in the afternoon you can see the most famous animal of this rainforest: Tarsier monkeys!
Tarsier monkeys or tarsiers are the smallest monkeys in the world, very cute! These tiny primates only grow about 9–16 cm (3–6 inches), without tail, so they easily fit in your hand. Of course we leave them alone, do not make a lot of noise around them and do not use flashlights when we take photos of those little beauties.
Apart from Tarsiers we hope to show you groups of macaque monkeys. There is no cage around the park, so we can not guarantee to see wildlife species, but we have seen macaques almost every time we visit.
The Sulawesi Cuscus bear is not really a bear but it looks a lot like one. Officially it is an arboreal marsupial, growing to up to 60 cm (24 inches).
You will hear many different wildlife species when you are in the Tangkoko rainforest. We always advice you to be really quiet, so ‘nature can come close’. Maybe you are lucky to see a Hornbill bird or some other beautifully colored tropical rainforest birds. Some you can spot in our garden too!

For the afternoon trip we normally leave around 10:30 AM. This gives us plenty of time to drive and have a relaxed lunch on the beach.
This trip requires hiking for about 60 minutes in total. There are plenty of stops where one of the park rangers or one of our guides will explain about the animals, plants and trees. Flip flops / slippers are not recommended, however some people prefer so.
Depending on our departure time we can have dinner along the way back or at LumbaLumba Manado resort.
